About the Apprenticeship Tours

The purpose of this educational seminar is to provide the opportunity for Americans to learn first-hand about specifics of the various German, Czech and Austrian Dual Vocational System in comparison to vocational training in the United States. We will also look at the European Union and the Euro monetary system, and enjoy the cultural climate from the Rhine to the Danube.

The seminar will address such questions as:

  • How do the Europeans cope with the European Union?
  • What options for continuing and adult education are available?
  • How is industry integrated into the training programs?
  • What options for apprenticeship are utilized?
  • What do the work sites/training centers look like?
  • How do they function? What do the students produce?
  • How are they integrated into the workforce at the job site?
  • How are professions created to match the market demand?
  • How are outmoded professions treated?

Culture and politics are also integral parts of everyday life in Europe. To this end, we have included a variety of activities to offer a well-rounded view of the European Union, only weeks after the introduction of the Euro.

Visits to work sites/training centers are the pivotal component to this seminar. Participants will visit a variety of training/job sites as a group and will also break into special interest groups for a more in-depth look at smaller enterprises. Everyone will have ample opportunity for interaction with experts, instructors and of course, the apprentices. In addition to each days intensive schedule, there are discussion sessions planned for the American seminar participants to review and brainstorm.

Who should participate?

Educators, vocational trainers, administrators, civic and business representatives and college students, etc.
